Up and running since yesterday, this is the second OpenHere festival. Hosted at the Science Gallery, and curated by @. This is a really interesting look where the future might be taking us. It has appealed to a wide and diverse cross section of the tech, hacker, student, artist, activist community, both here and Dublin and also from across Europe too.
Lead organiser Rachel O’Dwyer from Data.ie, spoke about how her interest for organising the event came out of her own research studies. There is an interesting line up of speakers, looking at some really interesting aspects of future alternative currencies, Open Source Ecology (33,000 likes on facebook), and, tomorrow the Sharing Economy, and it’s possible impacts on our society.
This is definitely at the bleeding edge of where our future trends maybe going, however they are issues to consider before, rather than after we passively handover all our data to unknown third parties. Get down to the Science Gallery if you can, today, tomorrow, or see the Robin Hood Collection from Monday through to Thursday, at the old central bank, 5 Foster Place.
