Allotment May 7th update

Looking at leaf mulch box back left, and second area to the right, made with pallets (very handy).

So, that’s the paths and open area covered with woodchip, to slow the weeds down. Hadn’t been completely convinced about wood chipping the paths, but it does seem better than weeds or mud bowls, as we had last year.

 

Then there are pockets of space that could be planted into. Lots of pine needles, not doing much, but good to use as organic ballast to weigh down the green sack / bean planter below. Thanks to the grand dad for that one.

Fingers crossed the slugs don’t eat them all before they take.

Strawberries, below, seem happy & fruiting bushes, golden & regular raspberries are putting on fresh growth too.

Calendula / marigold adds nice colour while we wait for other stuff to come up.
